What Size to Weave Items

What Size to Weave Items

Anytime I weave something new, I'm never sure how long to make the item. Over the last few days, I spent a bunch of time measuring different items in my home and came up with the following measurements as general guides for commonly woven items:

Crochet blanket made by my mom, starburst towel by Maryann Ariizumi and striped towel by Ann Norton of Eaglemount Fiber. The towels are cotton and were purchased at the Seattle Weavers Guild sale in 2013.

Please note that all measurements are without fringe and a lot of these are approximate (throws, blankets, rugs, etc.). It is at your discretion whether you like items larger or smaller. Also, keep in mind that either the warp or weft may contract depending on the type of loom and yarn that you are using. Do not forget to add extra warp.  This information was also added to the Learn pull down on the tool bar at the top of the page in case you need to easily find it again.
